Write a User ReviewLandscapes. The Namib Naukluft is all about landscapes. The colours of the sand dunes at sunrise, the rugged rock formations of the Kuiseb canyon and the ancient leaves of the Welwitchia plant all invite you to get out and explore this fascinating desert. My favourite place is Dead Vlei, where camelthorn trees that have been dead for 500 years stretch their black limbs towards an impossibly blue sky. The scene reminds me of a Dali painting and I am always double checking if their are any clocks draped over the tree branches.

The way to see Sossusvlei (a stunning clay pan in the central Namib Desert) is to go in on foot with an experienced guide who will show you all the signs of life in the seemingly empty expanse of sand and cracked, rock-hard former waterholes. Lizards, birds, spiders, and even the occasional antelope family walk here too. The scenery in incredible, like nothing else on earth. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and take a BIG bottle of water.

Visiting Namib dessert is definitely once in a lifetime experience. The stunning color of dunes even during the day time and loneliness origin from all those trees just made the tour rich in diversity

The beauty of the Namibian desert
My first experience in a desert environment, the Namib-Naukluft National Park offers amazing scenic panoramas, dune climbing, desert wildlife, great weather and excellent accommodations. A must if you visit Namibia.

A Drive on the Wild Side
The Namib-Naukluft National Park is one of the most impressive places I've visited in a life full of travel. The wildlife, the stunning desert scapes and dunes, the Sesriem area, Sossussvlei and The Dead Vlei, Kolmanskuppe with its houses being reclaimed by the desert, the coastline with its profusion of birdlife. Klein Aus Vista and all the accommodation we stayed at was comfortable and even more than that, incredibly beautiful. I didn't expect its wild beauty. My guide brought us expertly to what we had come to experience.

The desert scenery is stark and beautiful—very few critters to be seen due to conditions, but some interesting lizards and beetles made an appearance.
