Professional, organized, friendly and doing everything to make the trip the best experience!
We first contacted several companies and the offer of Splendid was the best. Their website and presentation were the best we saw. We then booked with them. After booking, we realized we (on our side) made a small mistake and we had an extra day. But Splendid was very accommodating and made new arrangements for us. Before they gave us several options and together we decided on the best one.
Before arrival they asked us for our flight information to meet us on time. We were then met by James and John. John was our driver and tour guide for the whole trip and he was just amazing. He made sure that we see as many animals as possible during the safari. He knew all the places where animals were staying. He always answered all of our questions. John was always friendly and we had good laughs. The hotels that were selected by Splendid were very, very good. We stayed in four different hotels and all of them were amazing.
We would definitely recommend Splendid to anyone who wants to have a fantastic safari experience!

Right from the beginning the experience with Splendid Vacations was a positive one.
We received a quote via email and soon after Maryann was in touch to follow up and answer any questions.
Communicating with her was easy via WhatsApp and she was quick to reply to our messages.
Although the initial quote was above our budget, Maryann came back to us with several options where we could reduce on cost, including resorts, dates and even mode of transport (whilst we opted for the slightly more expensive 4x4, we can confidently say it’s well worth it).
The tour and guide

On the morning of the safari, we met our guide Julius who picked us up from the hotel.
He gave us a short briefing about the day ahead and what we could expect. This was something he did consistently throughout the tour.
We visited 3 different reserves in total and travelled over 1000km by road between them but is well worth it for the diverse biomes you get to experience as well as the variety of animals. It’s also a great way to see Kenya outside of the parks.
The accommodation picked for us was also fantastic. We stayed in a lodge (Sarova lion hill) and tented camps (Oilepo and Enkorok) which were comfortable and either close to or inside the reserves themselves. It’s important to note that we picked these accommodations from a few options provided to us but it’s well worth booking in advance as camps often get booked out months in advance.
I won’t say much about the parks themselves as there’s nothing like seeing them for yourself, but I will say that being able to have a picnic in the Masai Mara is an unforgettable experience and you’re likely to see a variety of animals and birds.
A special thanks has to go to our guide, Julius. He was with us for the full 5 days and was friendly, professional and courteous throughout. He has excellent knowledge of the local wildlife and his superb driving abilities had us navigating some rough terrain in some pretty challenging conditions! He never rushed us when viewing wildlife, and waited for us to let him know when we were ready to move on.
Your guide can certainly make or break your trip, and Julius made ours for sure. Thank you so much!

Professional, well planned and reliable 6-day safari in Kenya

An Unforgettable Safari Experience with Splendid Vacations
Choosing Splendid Vacations from the numerous safari companies available was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The 1-night, 2-day safari tour was truly unforgettable. We experienced two game drives – one in the evening and one in the morning – and the variety of animals we encountered at different times of day was incredible. Every aspect of the tour was handled with great care for safety, allowing us to fully enjoy the experience without any worries.

She was fluent in English, highly communicative, and patient in answering all of my questions and requirements. - Airport Transfers
I was pleasantly surprised that airport transfers were included both before and after the safari. The pick-up times were punctual, reflecting the high level of hospitality throughout the tour.
- Safari
Our guide and driver, John, was incredibly professional. His driving was safe and never rushed, and thanks to his deep knowledge of animal behavior, we saw an impressive number of animals in a short amount of time. John also utilized his network of contacts to gather information about where specific animals were located, ensuring we didn’t miss anything. Unlike some guides who tend to talk too much, John maintained the perfect balance, giving us space while making sure we had a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
- Our Vehicle Choice
We chose a 4x4 Land Cruiser, and it was the perfect decision. The road to Masai Mara National Reserve included some off-road driving, and all game drives were conducted off-road as well. The vehicle handled everything smoothly, allowing us to fully enjoy the safari.
- Hotel
We stayed at Olkinyei Mara Tented Camp, conveniently located near the park entrance. The interiors of the restaurant, bar, and other communal areas were sophisticated and impeccably clean. The tent we stayed in had modern facilities, including clean and comfortable bathroom and toilet. At night, we could hear the sounds of wildlife from the park, and the starry sky was breathtaking, with countless shooting stars. The food, delicious Kenyan cuisine, was of high quality and added to the overall experience.
Final Thoughts:

Nice Safari in Kenya
We did six days safari in different parks in Kenya. Initially, we contacted this company for safari information. James quickly sent us several offers; however, I must say that after payment, communication was minimal. For a moment, we worried we were dealing with an unprofessional company. We arrived at the airport, and James was waiting at the exit. I don't think he's a very outgoing person; he didn't move from his spot until we approached him, much less make any attempt to help us with our luggage. Fortunately, Joshua, our driver, arrived, and I must say he's the complete opposite.Joshua is a very empathetic, communicative, and patient person. He drove very well without speeding or putting us at risk. He explained each park and each road to us and clearly knows his job very well. We enjoyed every place and every lodge. Even on our last day, before heading to the airport, he took us to eat at an amazing steakhouse. The car was in excellent condition and very clean. Overall, we can recommend this company, but their customer service could be improved.

Very communicative and knowledgeable
From the start, these guys were great. James contacted me immediately with a quote and answered any of the questions I had. Some of the lodges were booked, so he quickly pivoted with other options and got those booked. James was also quick to respond and make the entire process seamless
As for the Safari itself. John was very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. Even though we only saw the leopard for a split second walking between bushes, we were able to see the Big 5 and many other animals, often times being the first few vehicles to arrive at a sighting.
My wife and I are not overly talkative people and neither was John, which was perfect. If you’re looking for a great guy, who loves his job, knows his stuff, and someone you would want to get a beer with… he’s your man! It couldn’t have been a more perfect pairing.

Accommodating, Flexible and very knowledgeable from start to finish
Rachael did a fantastic job facilitating our entire 4 day safari to Lake Naivasha and Masai Mara. She presented the best options customized for what we wanted to see and getting us great accommodation packages at both locations. James, our driver, was superb as well. He ensured we saw a huge variety of animals and nature in our short amount of time on safari. He was easily the most skilled driver in park, often navigating to lesser known spots and helping other drivers out of the mud. Overall it was a fantastic value for a mid-luxury level safari and we would highly recommend.

An Unforgettable Safari Experience with Exceptional Service
My husband and I were visiting Kenya for the first time to do a safari. Brenda's professional responses and thoughtful communication made us feel at ease before the trip. We are also very grateful for our guide and driver, Julius, who took us to Nakuru Lake and Masai Mara National Reserve. He seemed to have an extraordinary sense of smell, as we managed to spot 16 lions, which was unbelievable! On the last day, as we were heading from Masai Mara to Nairobi airport, we encountered a huge traffic jam. Without Julius, I think we might have missed our flight. We were very lucky to have such a great operator and service for our first safari experience.
