Efficient, Reliable and Good Communication
4/5

I went on a 3 day safari to Amboseli in January and it was a great experience. I opted for the joiner tour so was paired up with a group of girls and it was really good. We saw lots of animals, the accommodation was comfortable, and the food was tasty. Overall, the whole experience was a lot of fun.

Only thing to improve would be more water. We were given a litre a day which is not enough in this heat, at least 2 litres should be given. Additionally it got very hot in the vehicle when we were driving to and from Nairobi. The AC did not work and it was unbearable at times.

Also, don’t bother with the additional sunrise walk. It’s extortionate at $20 and not worth it at all.

The Safari was good organized.
4/5

Our safari in Amboseli National Park was a wonderful experience overall. From the very beginning, the organization was excellent. The pickup was perfectly on time, which immediately gave us a good feeling and showed how professional the company is.
The safari jeep was very impressive – comfortable, well maintained, and perfect for exploring the park. The food and refreshments during the trip were also very good and well prepared, which made the long day in the park even more enjoyable.
Our driver made a real effort to find animals for us, and thanks to his dedication we were able to see everything we had hoped for. We were very satisfied with the wildlife experience and appreciated how hard he worked to make sure we had a successful safari.
One small downside was that the driver did not talk very much and did not explain a lot about the animals or the park. A bit more information and storytelling would have made the experience even better.
However, we were especially grateful that the driver made it possible to drop us off at the airport, even though it was a different location than the original plan. This flexibility helped us a lot and made our travel much easier, and we were very happy about it.
Overall, it was a great safari experience with good organization, a fantastic jeep, good food, and a very dedicated driver who made sure we saw the animals we came for.

Great nature experience with Chris!
4/5

This was our first time visiting Safari, and we cannot choose better. Our driver and guide in one person Chris got our completely trust from the very beginning. We believed him after those years of doing this job in every decision he made. With Chris you can be sure you will see all animals who are possible to see under the circumstances. He was very proffesional and kind. The only thing we would mention as negative is the lack of drinking water per person. One liter per day when you are whole day in Safari is not enough. But of course you can buy your own water in camp.

Amazing experience
3/5

I had a really good time and it was an amazing experience seeing the animals in their natural habitat. I booked a day trip, but we started the game drive around 4pm, which limited how much we could see—I only managed to spot two of the Big Five. It would be great if they could adjust their timings for day visitors so there's more time to explore. Overall, it was still a memorable experience, and the guide was fairly okay.

Dear Gano,

Thank you so much for your kind review! We're glad to hear you had a memorable experience and enjoyed seeing the wildlife in their natural habitat.

We appreciate your feedback about the timing of the game drive. Since this was a shared day safari, the group arrived around midday just in time for lunch which is why the game drive started in the afternoon. We aim to balance comfort and coordination for all guests, and sometimes this affects the amount of time available in the park.

That said, your suggestion is valuable, and we'll continue improving our shared safari logistics. For future guests seeking more time in the park, we always recommend our private or early-start full-day safaris.

Thanks again for choosing Meterai Safaris — we hope to host you again soon for an even richer experience!

Warm regards,
The Meterai Safaris Team

Driver: unpuncture and racist behavior
2/5

My driver Sal** was late for the departure in the morning. I had to wait 25 minutes in the morning and two other guests even waited for an hour.

After the tour, on our way back to the drop off (individual lunch), the driver kept on insisted that I get off the car and walk even before arriving the final destination because there is traffic jam and he was unhappy with it. It was a 10 minutes walk. I was okay with walking but there were 3 guests out of 4, including me, who were going to the same destination.

So I told him nicely, even if I get off here, he has to go through all this traffic jam anyways, since two other people are also going to the same place and they are not willing to walk.

However he kept insisting only at me to get off the car because apparently I was the only Asian guest. He kept making gestures showing complaints, kept turning off/on the car engine, and asked “have you made up your mind to get off here?”.

He was clearly discriminative because he didn’t say anything at two other Kenyan guests who were heading to the same destination. I was very upset that the other Kenyan guests even apologized instead for his behavior on behalf of all the Kenyan people.

This has been my third safari tour in Kenya/ fifth in East Aftica and he has been the worst driver ever.

John, who was in charge of the booking was trying to be helpful and was apologetic when I called him about this issue. However, I would like to hear clear follow up measures on how you would deal with this issue and the driver.
