Very enthousiastic about birding, knows a lot, and is fun to be around
5/5

We've had 2½ weeks of wildlife/birding with Davis as our guide.
Unfortunately, before we've even met Davis, we've gotten very sick and wanted him to wait till we were better, because, that's what you do in our country.
In Africa it gets serious very fast, so Davis had to be very persistent that we should let him come over and take us to a hospital in Kampala.
What a start of an adventure! 4 days in the hospital, and we were good(enough) to go!

We've visited several national parks, and saw many many animals. Davis was funny, and you als can make fun of him when he might get the car in some trouble (stomkop), but things like that are just great experiences.

It was a great time, except for the sicknesses of course, but thanks to Davis we were safe!

A fruitful birding trip in Uganda with a highly experienced birding guide
5/5

I had the pleasure of going birding with Davis on 22 April and on 26 April 2024. We went to a number of sites in and around Entebbe,, including in Mabamba swamp and at the Entebbe botanical gardens. We had a lot of opportunities to see birds enroute to Mabamba swamp and around Entebbe. It was evident that Davis is very passionate about birds. He is very knowledgeable and was quick to correctly identify the calls and sighting of birds. He is quite experienced and has one of the sharpest eyes I have come across for spotting birds in any environment. He has extensive knowledge of bird calls and can indeed whistle out many calls himself! We managed to get a number of new species for me in the different spots we went to. He was punctual, friendly, flexible, patient and went to great lengths to ensure that we saw the specials in the areas we visited. Davis is also a dependable driver. I will definitely reach out to Davis in the future for a more extensive birding experience across this beautiful country.

Very high quality
5/5

I went on an individually designed trip of 6 days, and managed to visit 3 national parks, as well as the urban eco-park in Kigali and some other stops on the way, including Gashora swamp. It was my first time in Rwanda, and so, of the over 240 bird species I saw, almost all were new to me. My guide Alex was extremely knowledgeable both for identifying the birds and for explaining their behaviour. Extremely highly recommended!

Eastern Uganda Birding Tour
5/5

This tour exceeded our expectations as far as the quality of the birdwatching and expertise of our guide/driver Davis. We checked many endemics off our list with the patient and expert tracking of Davis. we feel we had excellent value for money. we chose basic accommodation which puts you squarely in the parks and reserves. We aren’t overly fussy people so we’re fine with cold showers and no air conditioning but thrilled with en suite bathrooms with a “stool” toilet. My only recommendation would be to pack a rechargeable fan for extra comfort. we had been to Uganda 2 years ago for the “traditional” safari so our focus this time was more on birds, a passion of my husband’s. Davis is a very funny and easy-going guy. We shared our meals with him but also had plenty of down time over the hot noon to 4pm time. We are already considering another trip with him to Kenya to try and see the cheetah and more endemics.

Very good, very knowledgeable, well organised
5/5

I have just finished a 16 day private tour birding in Uganda with Wide Birding Eco Tours with guide Alex Gabiito. Alex has been a bird guide for 15 years and knew where to find all the birds. I saw 416 bird species in total as well as other fascinating wild life including gorillas and Tree Lions. Seeing Murchisson Falls was also a non-birding highlight for me. The trip was well organised, with local site guides included in many locations together with boat trips. I was paying for the more basic accommodation but it seemed more like mid range standard to me and I had no complaints with it. The food was better than I had anticipated. Uganda is a beautiful country, has abundant wildlife and lacks the tourist crowds of other countries like Kenya, Botswana and South Africa. This leads to a more personal experience. Also, due to it's prescence on a a plateau, the climate of the country is very pleasant and comfortable unlike other 'hot' climate countries.

Highly knowlegeable, Professional, focused and a pleasure to be with throughout the 16 days
5/5

We were really happy with our birding guide Isaac and driver Baraka on our recent 16 day trip to northern Tanzania and the Usambara mountains. Isaac was very patient and a great teacher for us on East Africa birds. As a birder he is highly experienced and his fieldcraft was outstanding. He knows lots of hotspots intimately and he knows where and how to locate lots of highly restricted east African endemics. We found him to be impressive technically, and he was very comfortable to discuss races and potential splits and lumps. We found Isaac to be a dedicated professional - he does not like us to miss anything. He also enjoys having fun as well and the banter with him and Baraka was a very positive part of the trip. Most importantly we found them to be very good company over a pretty intense 16 day trip. Summing up, I would recommend Isaac to any serious birder wanting to see Tanzania and other parts of east Africa too. Credit too to Davis for the overall coordination of the trip. Together you all gave us a marvellous experience that we will long cherish.

400 Bird Species, Gorillas, and Great Memories: Our 14-day Uganda Tour
5/5

Our group of five birders joined a 14-day private birding tour that also included gorilla and chimpanzee trekking. We were thrilled to see over 400 bird species, and the gorilla encounter was unforgettable — it came within just two metres of us!

We are very satisfied with Alex, our bird guide. He is exceptionally professional and deeply passionate about Uganda’s birds. The birding route was very well planned and easy to follow, even for the three members of our group who are over 70 years old.

The accommodations were excellent, meeting Western standards, and the food was consistently good with Western-style menus. All the birding sites felt completely safe.

We highly recommend their tours to anyone interested in birding and wildlife in Uganda.

Ultimate Birding Tour
5/5

Davis Kibuga provided a fantastic 25 day birding tour of Uganda exceeding our species target of 600 birds!!
His enthusiasm, professionalism and dedication ensured a fabulous trip.
His vast network of local guides helped to find those more elusive and hard to find endemics and most sought after species.
His excellent 4x4 ensured that we were able to access the most remote regions of the country.
As requested my accommodation was a mixture of locally owned and run guest houses with community lodges.
These were clean comfortable, budget friendly and provided good simple home cooked meals.
I would strongly recommend Davis
He is a superb guide, dedicated and professional

We had a very good birding tour. Very good guide, reliable & reputable tour operator
4/5

The communication for planning the tour was easy.
Excellent value for money included the community lodges which offered a different perspective of the country.

Payments of the birding tour were tracked by invoices.

The planed itinerary was followed, the lodges were good to very good and the food was always excellent.

The guide Alex never stops and he has eagle eyes to detect all birds and mammals.

Wide birding eco tour deserved 5 stars but due to some issues with the car at the beginning of the birding tour and some occasional communication issues, we opted for 4.5 stars.

A wonderful birding tour
5/5

This WIDE BIRDING ECO TOURS organized a successful birding tour exploring moutains, savannas, wetlands, lakes even villages all through Rwanda and Uganda, found us a lot of Albertine endemics and other rare birds including Rwenzori Turaco, Green-breasted Pitta etc., and the symbolic species, Shoebill. The nice and professional birding guide Alex led the forepart, and the leader Davis himself took over for the rest 3 days, our team were satisfied with their service, as well as the arrangement of accommodations and meals. In general, it was an impressive and wonderful tour ,and will be memorable and recommendable.
