Nyumbu Beyond Journeys made our short trip feel like a once-in-a-lifetime experience
We started our 3-day tour with a pickup at the airport in Kigali, and from that moment on, everything ran smoothly thanks to Nyumbu Beyond Journeys. The team was extremely professional and welcoming — our guide Living and driver Adam made us feel comfortable, informed, and cared for throughout the trip.
Crossing into Uganda was effortless with their support, and all the logistics (permits, accommodations, meals, etc.) were handled flawlessly. The gorilla trekking itself was absolutely surreal — being so close to these incredible animals in the wild is something I’ll never forget.
Our hotel on Sharp Island was a highlight — peaceful, scenic, and a perfect place to recharge after the trek. The entire tour felt safe, well-paced, and thoughtfully curated.
I highly recommend Nyumbu Beyond Journeys if you’re looking for a reliable and well-organized experience that lets you fully enjoy the beauty of East Africa without the stress.

More than a journey!
My small group of 4 started in Washington DC and traveled to Kigali, where we met our NBJ guides for the gorilla trek in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Our trip included travel from Kigali to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Center, a beautiful mountain lodge, the gorilla trek, a tour of a Pygmy village, an island cottage, and the Rwanda Genocide Memorial. All of this in just three days. The guides took care of every important detail - lodging, transportation, food, water, fun, and learning. They even organized a birthday celebration at our lodge. I highly recommend Nyumbu Beyond Journeys for any African experience!

Our tour operators gave us a highly personalized trip and it was a very joyful trip together
We booked our trip through Nyumbu after receiving a very professional offer, which clearly laid out our trip details and expectations. From this point, the communication was extremely swift and good, all the way up to the trip. During the 5 day great apes safari, we developed a friendship beyond the normal tour operator approach. Living and Adams where service minded and fun to be with. We had many good laughs together. Not at least, the adventure and experiences were fantastic. We got really close encounters with the gorillas, our highlight of the trip. The chimp safary was also amazing. Not at least, we were very lucky with our time on the savannah, seeing leopard along the river and the tree-climbing lions. The hotels booked exceeded expectations, and particularly the Aardvark Safari Lodge which was magic.
I would highly recommend this company and trip to our friends.

Everyone travels for so many reasons and at the end of their travel, what matters are the journey they went through, memories, satisfaction... I was so happy to chosen Nyumbu Beyond Journey (NBJ) and Living, who remembers whatever your wishes and make sure to achieve the same.
During my travel, happen to witness wonder journey of people from different regions, mountain trekking experiences to see Gorilla and especially Kyambura Gorge, the location takes you to cinematic experience.
Being a Photograher, time to spent on the location is so important, NBJ make sure this happened all the time.

Unforgettable vacation with Nyumbu beyond 2024

An amazing journey.
We did a 15 day tailor made journey through Burundi, Rwanda and Uganda created together with Nyumbu Journeys with some of our bucket list must do experiences and great tips from Living at Nyumbu. And the itinerary created was much better than we could have done ourselves. Communication was swift, very professional and solutions oriented both before and during our journey. The service provide by our guides and drivers was beyond expected, personal yet very professional and we had a lot of fun together for two weeks. Burundi was a bit of the beaten track but did not disappoint. Lots of thing to see and do and some very interesting meetings. Rwanda provides a solid tourist experience with both history and nature. The big surprise was Uganda where we had a really great time. Beautiful nature, friendly people, so much to see, do and experience.
This is not a tour we, even though we are seasoned travellers, could have created and gone through with ourselves. But Nyumbu Journeys made it possible and for that we are ever greatful.
