Professional and very accommodating, with a great depth of knowledge about MFNP
My three day Murchison Falls NP adventure with guide Jimmy was an incredible few days seeing so much wildlife, as well as the fantastic falls on the Victoria Nile. His knowledge of the area, and where the animals would be, meant we saw a large number of lions, elephants, giraffes, antelope, monkeys and many different bird species. His professionalism and reliability, as well as flexibility in the program to optimize opportunities and time available, made it a memorable and action packed few days. I would highly recommend Jimmy and Semu Gorilla Safaris and Tours to make the most of a visit to MFNP.

Semu has a very good guide in Jimmy!!!
Had a two day tour out of Kigali (Rwanda) to Uganda to see the gorillas! Guide Jimmy Mukasa did a very good job in driving, in explaining about Rwanda, Uganda and the region (their wildlife, nature, economy and their history) and in telling all kinds of stories about the things we encountered. Very cheerful guy! I wholeheartedly can recommend him!

Efficient and great communication
I did a one day trip to Uganda from Kigali and it was amazing. It’s a long day, leaving at 2am, but absolutely worth it. A special shout-out to by guide, Justice, for helping me deal with a visa issue at the boarder when returning to Rwanda.

Incredible 2-Day Gorilla Safari with Semu Gorilla Travel and Safaris – Highly Recommended!
We booked a 2-day gorilla safari in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with Semu Gorilla Travel and Safaris, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of our entire Africa trip.
Our guides, Edison and Jimmy, were simply fantastic — protective, reliable, and extremely knowledgeable. They helped us explore Kigali’s key sights, gave rich insights into Rwanda’s history, and made our border crossing from Rwanda to Uganda smooth and stress-free. They also informed beforehand what we need to bring for this trek.
They arranged everything perfectly — from the gorilla trekking permits to comfortable accommodations near Bwindi. Both Edison and Jimmy had exceptional knowledge of birds, animals, and the forest ecosystem, which made the whole safari even more engaging.
A big shoutout to Jimmy, who is not only a wonderful guide but also a very skilled and safe driver, even on challenging mountain roads.
If you're looking to explore Bwindi National Park, do a gorilla trek, or simply want a trustworthy local operator for travel in Rwanda and Uganda, we highly recommend Semu Gorilla Travel and Safaris. Their personalized service, deep expertise, and warm hospitality truly made our journey unforgettable.

Trip
Me and my brother found them online, sent them a message and they answered me right away, gave me a breakdown of everything, listened to every request and responded accordingly. Their price is great. We did a 7-day trip, enjoyed every moment, they solved every problem we encountered along the way. Our guide Tony was very nice, took great care of us and made the trip fun.

We enjoyed very much the trip. Well organised and exciting.
We enjoyed very much the trip. They were very accommodating. Only issue is that the car could have been in better conditions. It did not have air conditioning and for a trip of nearly 12 hours from Entebbe to Bwindi could have been more enjoyable. Jimmy was the driver/guide who was very nice, knowledgeable and fun to travel with.
They helped us to break the trip on the return to be more relaxed and managed to get us a room in Entebbe to rest while we were waiting for our flight o Nairobi.
All very enjoyable.

Our experience with Semu Gorillas was really special:
On the positive side:
*We were short on time but didn’t want to miss the experience, so they adjusted the itinerary to see the gorillas in just 2 days. Even though it was challenging and tiring because of the long travel, they made it possible.
*All the planning was very smooth, with clear communication about costs, timing, and everything we needed to prepare for the trip.
*Seeing gorillas is not cheap, but they worked within a budget that was very competitive compared to other agencies, without sacrificing anything important.
*The lodge where we stayed was beautiful, with stunning views, very kind staff, and great food. They even prepared some special details for our honeymoon, which was very thoughtful.
*The car was comfortable, with reclining seats (which makes a big difference for a 9-hour ride!). The weather wasn’t too hot, but the air conditioning didn’t cool enough, so we often traveled with the windows down.
*Our guide, Joel, was very attentive, kind, informative, and proactive in solving any issues along the way.
Things to improve or consider:
*We had car trouble twice, which extended our travel time from 9 hours to 10 or even 11, making the trip quite exhausting. While it was a relatively new car and some issues can be expected on such long trips with challenging road conditions, there was a moment where we didn’t feel completely safe because the brakes started making noises on a very curvy stretch. Our guide was proactive in finding a solution, but perhaps better planning and vehicle checks could help prevent these situations.
*Meals on the road cannot be planned much, as they depend on where you are when lunchtime comes. Don’t expect anything special; it’s mostly standard roadside hotel food.

Amazing Guide and Experience
Highly recommend Jimmy and his team! We saw all the big 5, and a large part of that was because Jimmy spotted a leopard way far off. Definitely needed an expert guide like him to see that. He knew so much about the animals and park and was friendly and kind. Also was the most cost effective option we found!

Reliable Organized Tour Operator
We enjoyed an excellent four day tour of Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth National Parks in early May with Semu. The parks and lodges were quieter at that time of year, which made the experience even better, and the weather cooperated throughout. We were fortunate to have Edison join us, along with Jimmy, our driver and guide. From the earliest planning stages right through to the end of the trip, Edison provided clear, helpful information and always responded promptly.
For our budget accommodations, I was pleasantly surprised by Mpogo Lodge — it was outstanding. Our second stay at Engiri Game Lodge offered a different charm: the huts were simple but comfortable, and the atmosphere was wonderful. We were even treated to daily visits from elephants wandering through the property, which was such a memorable highlight. Meals at both lodges were very good.
The itinerary kept us busy, with several activities each day. We saw an impressive variety of wildlife, thanks in large part to Jimmy’s sharp eye — he often spotted animals long before we did. Although the drives from Kampala to the parks were long, they were enjoyable, with plenty to see along the way. Our guides did everything possible to make the trip smooth and enjoyable.
We added an extra day to visit Jinja and the Source of the Nile, and it was absolutely worth it.
Overall, it was a fantastic trip filled with lasting memories. I highly recommend booking with Semu.
